Artist Spotlight A_n_D

Posted by dtd | Wednesday, February 22, 2012
A_n_D, who has just released his first project C'est La Vie online has already had over 5,000 in downloads and as handed out close to a 1,000 hard copies locally.
"The concept of C'est La Vie is based off of the phrase which in english is "Such is Life."  Between talking about the loss of friends to drugs, alcohol and jail. The issues of relationships, the woes of society, and the highs and the lows, I wanted to give people a chance to understand me and my life over the past couple of years.
I took the production very seriously. My intro and outro was produced by The Best Kept secret, who is Wale's personal producer and produced one of his smash singles "Pretty Girls." I also have three different tracks produced by a good friend, Mikey Mike, who is currently signed to Universal/Beluga Heights who is owned be superproducer JR Rotem and he is currently working on a single with Sean Kingston.  Other producers included Truth out of Crisfield, MD and Scootie J who is local to Salisbury, MD.  I wanted to stay regional with the producers as I feel they create a sound that is unique for our area.

I do a majority of the hooks all the lyrics are mine... I have features from Alex and Shiloh which perform all through Ocean City in the summer and the tri county region in the winter.  Also got help from Royal Leopard from NC who also engineered my whole project, and C-Mack from DE."

A Post About Boobs. Motorboating Optional.

Posted by Kruger's Corner | Tuesday, February 21, 2012
Being a chick is hard. We may be considered the fairer sex, but we are sure as shit the stronger one. In addition to being complete and total weenies when they're sick, men never have to worry about their having their insides annually examined or pushing a tiny human out of their vagina or income inequality or their boobs trying to kill them.

It's not just mommas and grandmas that get breast cancer. That is the message of the Pink Ribbon Pinups, a sexy, sassy, fundraising group founded last year by my beautiful friend and breast cancer survivor Brandi. All women need to be aware of their health throughout their lives, not just once they hit 40. The group raises awareness and supports breast cancer causes, with the hope of making a positive impact on other women who are diagnosed at a young age (Brandi was 26. She's a badass). We dress in pinup style and throw parties. Because parties are fun. And cancer is an asshole.

I myself have a strong family history of breast cancer and am therefore considered "high risk". I also have a strong family history of sarcasm and idiocy, but apparently there are no current tests to confirm these afflictions. So when I went for my second ever mammogram last week, I thought about how important the Pinups mission of awareness is. When I checked in, the woman at the desk asked what kind of mammogram I had last year. My response - "a regular one". Apparently there's more than one kind of boob squishing. See? I NEED Pinup awareness. Three AGH employees asked separately what I was doing there. "You're so young," they all said. They need Pinup awareness too. For the men out there who don't have wives/girlfriends/daughters/sisters, a mammogram machine is essentially a pannini press for tits. Only instead of a delicious grilled sandwich, all you get are some glamour shots of your girls. My right one is bigger and a total attention whore.

This week is Brandi's nine year(!) anniversary of being cancer free. I hope that with awareness and early detection, many other thousands of women will also reach that milestone and beyond. Help us celebrate by signing up to join the Pink Ribbon Pinups on April 22nd for the Ocean City Race for the Cure.  We are fun, young, hot, and we LOVE our boobs. Join our party if you love boobs too. And who doesn't? I'm looking at you too, guys.

Health isn't just important in October when the NFL wears pink. Help save second base! Although to be honest, I've never been entirely sure about the bases. I guess where you grow up determines how you rank them? I've always thought of boobs as more of a run-down between first and second, but I know some girls who would probably consider the boobs to be in the batters box. See what I did there? Boobs + sporty sex analogies = male attention to the cause. You're welcome, PRP.

P.S.- On an ENTIRELY unrelated note, did anyone else see that dog that won best in show at the Westminster dog show? It looked like what you would get if Chewbacca raped an Ewok. Seriously, what was that??

Top of the Dome: Annapolis Maryland

Posted by zeldahart | Tuesday, February 21, 2012
Traveling over the bridge this weekend for the big music show at Rams Head on Saturday, we made a pitstop to see some friends in Annapolis. For February, it was a balmy day with clear blue skies and warm sun. We met at Middleton Tavern down by City Dock. For me this was a trip back in time, growing up in Crofton my first job in high school was at Lee's Ice Cream on Main Street in Annapolis. We used to hang out on Friday nights at city dock in high school, and I celebrated both my 21st birthday and bachelorette party in this setting, going from bar to bar for good times. Many of those bars are no longer around, but new ones have popped up in their place.

Sitting outside at a table for some drinks and lunch at Middleton Tavern, we started with what our friend suggested: Oyster Shooters! After enjoying that delicious combination of fresh oysters, amazing cocktail sauce, followed up with a cold shot of National Bohemian, we enjoyed lunch and then head towards the State House.

Maryland history truly is something I don't think I fully appreciated growing up. Of course on field trips we took the standard tours, but entering the State House as an adult, after studying History in college, it all seems so much more interesting. Our states capital is the spot where George Washington resigned his commission from the Army, in 1783. It was here, that Congress ratified the Treaty of Paris which ended the Revolutionary War.

While on our tour of the State House, we were able to walk into the House chambers to see where our laws are created. A sneak peek also into the lounge where our lawmakers go during session for more involved conversation in regards to the action on the floor, or to grab a bite to eat on the late night sessions.

The best part of this trip was the opportunity to visit the dome of the State House. Talk about history! There is grafitti from the 1800's on the beams that hold up the dome. The structure is incredible, especially when you think about how old it is, and how large the beams are that constructed this building. What a beautiful day to see for miles! Next time you are traveling and find yourself near Annapolis, take the time to take in a bit of the history, along with the amazing restaurants, bars and artists that fill this city.

Veni, Vidi, Vici - Pirate Rob Bday Bash Returns

Posted by dtd | Monday, February 20, 2012
If Pirate Rob was a Roman emperor instead of a pirate, he could have turned that famous sentence for his birthday bash this weekend.  With 18 acts playing at Rams Head Live this weekend,  it was a jam packed music showcase.  The biggest mixed genre show in the Mid Atlantic.  Delmarva NightLife is Robs baby in the same fashion that Good Clean Fun is ours .  It is a labor of love and a burgeoning business, thats has spun off new bands and businesses.
Many of the standard acts in the DNL Family played all after noon and evening leading up to Pasadena taking the stage for the big finale.  There were some newer acts as well, primarily a Young MC to bring on the acts for the first half of the show.  That's right, I jumped from being in front of the stage taking pictures to on stage bringing on bands.  Part of the reason I wanted to do it was because Natalee is the clearly better photographer of the two of us, the other part is the podcast and Djing gigs that lead to a spot on the radio, which in some ways lead to this.  So running my mouth has started to open up some opportunities.

The opportunity to be even a small part of this show is a great one.  Even though I like to poke fun at Pirate Rob from time to time the truth is that he does a real service for music in the region. I respect him for that.   In fact the show has almost  turned into a Mid Atlantic music conference.  With the number of sponsors and merch tables, and out of state attendees, Robert might consider selling booth space and turning it into a trade show.

Most of all it is a great night of music and fun.  Thanks for a great night and allowing us to do what we do , enjoy the show and take pictures.

King of Pong - Dogfish Head & Burley Oak

Posted by dtd | Monday, February 20, 2012
Charlize Theron  brought the beer  Friday night in Berlin was a battle of epic proportions.  A brew-off between the world reknowned Dogfish Head and the locally famous Burley Oak would have been too easy.  Clearly if held on Berlin soil Burley Oak would win such a competition, the town has embraced the brewery so wholeheartedly  that the mayor has even considered having it piped through he water lines to every house in town.  Dogfish Head...READ POST.

By Tony RussoSometimes on Saturday night, I like to tune into Todd DeHart’s radio show on Ocean 98. If you are really not the go out Saturday night type, like me, you can actually watch the show on the station’s Webcam.Mostly what you would see if you bothered is Todd standing in front of a microphone waiting for his chance to speak.I’ve started cyberstalking him, though, and tweeting a critique of his every move and also of his playlist. As it turned out, it was kind of fun so we’ve...READ POST.

Building a brand on the web, I spend a lot of time looking at web related stuff - picture sites, entertainment sites, social media sites, blog sites, etc.  It is not all frivolous surfing, although some of it is, most of it is to stay on top of trends and ideas in industry marketing and business.  Having a lifestyle magazine website is playing in a big sand box with a LOT of players. Most players in the web media world are small, like us,...READ POST.

Happy Valentine's Day from Tales From the Chair

Posted by Tales From the Chair | Tuesday, February 14, 2012
Shakespeare said, “Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind/ Therefore is winged cupid painted blind.”  Shakespeare got it right in my opinion; love indeed is blind.  But why is it that we feel the need to express this love the most on Valentine’s Day?  Shouldn’t we love one another every day of our lives?  You may not realize it, but we do…a kiss before leaving for work, flowers sent for no reason, a whispered “I love you” in your loved-ones ear when you...READ POST.
